ISH is a private coeducational IB World School fully accredited to offer all three IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students in grades K-5, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for grades 6-10, and the Diploma Programme for grades 11-12. ISH has 485 students representing more than 50 nationalities.

Studying in grades 10-12 (lukio)

The first year of “lukio” is the final year of Middle Years Programme (MYP) at ISH. Grade 10 students begin their preparations for both the ISH High School Diploma and the IB Diploma during this final year of MYP. In Grades 11 and 12, all students have the opportunity to fulfill requirements to qualify for the IB Diploma. The Diploma Programme is taught over two years and has the recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities. The High School diploma is equivalent to an American high school diploma. ISH Graduates are admitted to competitive universities around the world.

Admission requirements

ISH is a non-selective school and entrance exams are not required. School has a round-a-year admission and does not belong to the joint application system. Application forms and more information about the admissions process can be found at www.ishelsinki.fi

Co-operation with other international Schools

Upper school students at ISH have the opportunity to take part in Activities and Athletics events organized by the Central East European Schools Association (CEESA) and tournaments hosted by the Nordic Sports League. Additionally, students in grades 9 through 12 can attend The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN), while students in grades 8 through 11 can participate in the Helsinki International Model United Nations (HELIMUN).

Foreign languages

The medium of instruction is English. Other languages offered are Finnish, French and Spanish.

Open House

ISH does not organize an Open House, a visit can be arranged by calling the school.
